As a TRUE Africa donor, you can contribute to the stability of up-and-coming village schools, and the economically disadvantaged students who attend them. By adding school supplies to your cart, you are helping us purchase desperately needed, African-made and marketed, school supplies for our students and schools. Shipping supplies into Africa is very costly and undermines the local African economy. So rather than compete with the local entrepreneurs who already offer pencils, pens, booklets, paper, and textbooks, TRUE Africa purchases all school supplies locally. This means that, as a donor, you support the schools, students, AND the young (often female) entrepreneurs who sell these items. It is truly amazing how much can be accomplished for such a small contribution on your part! |
Student & Teacher Textbooks
Textbooks are much needed, but rare, in Ugandan primary schools. Some primary children have never touched a printed book. Students usually copy from the blackboard into their exercise books to create handmade textbooks.
The following textbooks are aligned with their national curriculum,
prepare the students for the national primary examination, and
are purchased locally in Uganda from MK Publishers, Ltd., Kampala, Uganda.
All textbooks are stamped, added to our textbook library and checked out for the year by our sponsored children.
At the end of the year, the textbooks are collected for use the next year by sponsored children.
TRUE Sponsors may provide textbooks specifically for the child they sponsor.
